Altar servers play an important role at Mass, assisting the priest and deacon in their ordinary roles. Altar servers also serve at other rites, liturgies, and celebrations including processions, holy hours, quinceaneras, weddings, and funerals.
To serve as an altar server, you must have made your First Communion and attend Mass on a regular basis. Teens and adults are also welcome to serve as altar servers.

Mayordomos care for and clean the inside of the church and sacristy. They work in teams that are scheduled to clean once every four or five weeks.
At San José en los Duranes, the mayordomos perform some additional tasks: unlocking the church doors for services, preparing necessary items (books, candles, water, wine, hosts, and vessels), and laundering the linens.

These Communion ministers take the Eucharist to people who are homebound and those who are too ill to attend Mass. They pray and visit with the sick and the elderly, helping them to know that they are still part of the parish community.
If you are interested in becoming a minister to the homebound, please call the Parish Office at 243-4628.
Contact the Parish Office if you or someone you know would like to receive the Eucharist at home.
